Great interactive, online, game-based learning. I used this extensively in practicum for diagnostic and consolidation assessment, and students absolutely adored it! Teachers make an account (it's free) at https://getkahoot.com/ (instructions provided)
Then you can choose to make quizzes, surveys or discussion. Very user-friendly and teachers can adjust times, add pictures, music is provided. Then students login on to kahoot.it with their phone or lap top, enter a game pin from the quiz, their name and then the quiz starts.
3) Gizmos : http://www.explorelearning.com/
Online simulations, most school boards have this tool for use. Teachers can browse for their topic and grade and includes worksheets for students set up as an inquiry based experiment. I used Gizmos for my grade 9 Ecology unit, in which students investigated the food chain and experimented with the numbers of species in each tropic level, and what happened if a species was sick. It provided data analysis and real life applications, directly linked to the Ontario curriculum. Gizmos is great for Math and Science.
4) Quia : http://www.quia.com/
online activities/games (and printables ) for French, English and international languages. Includes Jeopardy, crosswords, matching, flashcards, battleship and a variety of different games to review grammar concepts. I used it for my French classes, and it was an amazing tool, you can put it on your website and students can use it at their leisure.
5) Prezi : https://prezi.com/

Great presentation software that is visually appealing, can be personalized, and includes pop up animations. Takes some time to prepare but students enjoy it as it is a change from regular powerpoint.
